1. Regular Washing: You should wash your vehicle once a month minimum to remove dirt, dust, and contaminants that can degrade the coating over time. If you value your time and energy you should get on a regularly scheduled maintenance plan with Lumos Auto Club. Once a month or a frequency of your choosing, Lumos will perform an inspection of your coating and a Level 1 Signature wash on your vehicle. Providing the best care and using the right products to ensure your coating performs it's best and maintains longevity. However, if you are a do-it-yourself Sunday wash enthusiast, we recommend any pH-neutral car shampoo and a soft wash mitt or sponge to avoid scratching the surface and Fireball Pirouette ceramic coating topper for regular maintenance of your vehicle. This spray on sealant that can be used wet or dry, is providing water repellence and UV resistance to further lock in your investment. You can use Fireball Pirouette for every wash, or apply at least once a year.
2. Proper Washing Techniques: Always wash your car in a shaded area and when the paint is cool. Rinse thoroughly before washing to remove loose debris. Use the two-bucket method (one bucket for clean water, one for soapy water) to minimize swirl marks. If you're going to wash your wheels or engine bay use a three-bucket method, one bucket specifically for wheels and engine. Wash your wheels and engine bay first to avoid tracking debris, dirt and contaminants onto the paint of your vehicle. You may also run your vehicle through the occasional touch-less car wash, avoid car washes with bristles and brushes as they are not replaced or cleaned regularly and you will be scratching your paint with the previous vehicles dirt every time.
3. Drying: After washing, dry your car thoroughly using a clean, soft microfiber drying towel or a drying aid. Avoid static air-drying, as this can lead to water spots, especially in direct sunlight. If you don't have time to hand dry, use a leaf blower or take your vehicle for a nice drive and hit the gas to watch the water fly right off.
4. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Use only cleaning products specifically formulated for use on ceramic-coated vehicles. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and automatic car washes that can damage the coating. When in doubt, always consult the professionals. Here at Lumos Auto Club we're about educating the driver. Feel free to ask us any questions regarding your vehicles Fireball USA Ceramic Coating, or purchase the products needed to maintain your vehicle, directly from us in Camden, South Carolina.
5. Inspect Regularly: Periodically check the condition of the coating. Look for water beading and sheeting to ensure the hydrophobic properties are intact. If water no longer beads or sheets evenly, it may be time for a maintenance detail or a ceramic coating booster application.
